The Mapleleaf Pool was opened on 6th August 1954 by a representative of the High Commission for Canada. It was a gift from the Kin clubs of Canada and the Canadian People to commorate the fortitude of the People of Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea during the floods of 1953.
