Chairman's Report for 2007/2008 AGM.

All members were thanked for their continuing support of the club, as were all committee members. The Chairman made special references to Dennis Joice (Acting Hon.Treasurer) and Gordon Newman (Hon. Secretary). Dennis for the way he had taken over the roll of treasurer, from retiring treasurer Graham Betts at such short notice, and to Gordon for the meticulous way he has kept the paper work and records of the club.

Outlining the events for 2008 he reminded members of the forthcoming Presentation Night at the Bacchus Hotel on Thursday 17th April. The Strawberries and Cream charity afternoon on Saturday June 28th and the Summer Fete on Saturday August 2nd plus the Quiz Night Tuesday August 12th , and the Late Night Shopping on Friday 5th December.

Talking about the way the club was progressing, he added things had changed from the original concept of members just raising money solely for the club. He felt that the club has now entered a new roll as facilitator to all the charities in the area, by inviting them to take part in events organised by the club. A fine example of this was the clubs Christmas Late Night Shopping when all of those who attended collectively raised just under £4000. The chairman was happy with the clubs new roll, and this was echoed by the members present.

Finally he thanked the owners David and Jane Smith, Management and Staff of the Bacchus hotel, for the way they had supported and served the club during the past twelve months.

The recipients of this years monetary awards from the club are the Animal Ark North Sumercotes, the Donkey Sanctury, Huttoft, St. Barnabas Hosipic, and the Marie Curie Cancer Care have all been contacted, and replies received, confirming that they will be attending the presentation night in April , when each charity will receive £250 each.
