Shops were open saying 'thankyou' to their customers and visitors by giving out mince pies, sausage rolls, mulled wine and sherry. There were stalls in the streets, Hot Chestnuts, Christmas Carols, and of course Father Christmas himself. Many families enjoyed the festive atmosphere.
