About Bowhunter Websites

Bowhunter Websites owns and operates a number of community websites (including this one) in the East Lindsey District of Lincolnshire.

2018 – Bowhunter Websites Acquired by MGC Websites Ltd

In April 2018 MGC Websites Ltd bought Bowhunter Websites taking over the website, domain and email hosting contracts and website maintenance customers. All of this activity is now carried out by MGC Websites Ltd run by Mablethorpe resident Chris Drew. Visit the MGC Websites Ltd website to find out more.

The Bowhunter Websites brand is now used as a trading name by MGC Websites Ltd in relation to the operation of the community websites only.

The History of Bowhunter Websites

Bowhunter Websites was set up by Keith Butters in 2000 to offer website design hosting and maintenance. Over the next eighteen years it grew to have many clients in a variety of trades and industries all across East Lindsey.

Using the trading name Community Lincs, Keith also built seven community websites for local towns and villages that are still growing to this day.

Using Adobe Contribute, Bowhunter Websites customers could update their own sites long before the arrival of the database driven Content Management System (CMS) made it the norm as part of the ‘Web 2.0’ revolution.

As time moved on newer sites took advantage of more advanced systems including WordPress, Joomla and Drupal.

Those same systems, and many others, lead to an explosion of competitors who were now able to create websites using basic IT skills and little knowledge of website development. Though these sites are typically very poor with performance to match, the customer often isn’t in a position to judge them so it’s testament to Keith’s service and customer relations that his business continued to grow whilst dozens of competitors appeared and disappeared on an annual basis.

The Future

Keith choose to sell his business to Chris Drew from MGC Websites Ltd as he was confident his customers would be looked after for many years to come. I fully intended to repay that trust and have already received positive feedback from many of the website customers. I look forwards to relaunching the community websites in 2019.
