The Maple Leaf Pool was opened on 6th August 1954 by a representative of the High Commission for Canada. It was a gift from the Kin Clubs of Canada and the Canadian people to commemorate the fortitude of the people of Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea during the floods of 1953.
